Wardell was one of
the first in Viet Nam and I'm sure the last of us to retire.
He is a Lt Colonel
now, he was a PFC then. I still call him Wardell because he is our friend
and comrade. As you guys well know Shotgunners never saluted anyone below
the grade of Full Bird Colonel, I salute Lt. Colonel Wardell Guyton.
Webmaster....CPL.
Bill Ball ...then.
to your left is one of the first news articles of the Shotgun Program, the
first Combat troops in Viet Nam, prior to this article the Shotgun Program was
top secret, the US was not supposed to have combat troops assigned to Viet Nam.

Bill
I read SGT Burdick words from July 1965 and he talks about the 9th of
April 1965. The 4 person lost were my room mates. I remember them be awaking
that morning. The Crew chief was SP/5 Malay and the Gunner was a native
hawaiian, I don't recall his name. The pilots were LT Throne and Chief
Bishop. I will never forget packing up there belonging. The Gunner and
Chewchief were not the ones assigned to copiter, but decided to go anyway since
they were ready to go. Everyone, starting saying "I am not going to be like
Milay and get used to much."
Bill,

I remember you more now. Also do you
remember when we loss
the a/c coming into a LZ? There was Lt Horne, WO Bishop,
Oliver, and mill. aboard. Was there another? Call Sp/5 Milay?
we are setting a memorial for them with the 281st AHC. Or
was there 4 or 5 men aboard the A/C?.The 145th became the
aviation plt of Project Delta. (Delta Force) under Col Beckwith.
Jan of 66 became 2nd Plt 171st Avn Co then June 66 became
a full company called the 281st AHC with the same mission
Project Delta and also worked with SOG. I live in Roanoke, TX
and am part of the Texas State Guard. Actived for Katrina.
We are like a Guard reserves and call up by the Governor only.
